Working with Clarion Housing Group, the largest social landlord in the UK, Maconda developed the digital circular economy strategy for all of Clarion’s housing assets within their strategic regeneration pipeline. Starting with a number of pilot sites, the project seeks to demonstrate how value creation, financial savings and environmental benefits are realizable with circular economy and how such an approach can be scaled across entire asset portfolios.
The Objective - Clarion Housing Group partnered with Maconda to explore how circular economy principles can be embedded into their Strategic Regeneration Pipeline.
Maconda’s Response - Through a two-phase pilot, Maconda delivered detailed pre-demolition audits across Clarion assets, capturing comprehensive environmental and material data.
Using the Upcyclea platform, the audits of these pilot sites such as Clare House or Marsh Court were digitised using Digital Product Passports, providing a clear record of material composition, estimated carbon value, and reuse potential. The digital platform enabled the project team to review, collaborate and identify reuse opportunities prior to demolition, increasing the transparency and speed of circular decision-making.
Stakeholder engagement was key. Multiple sessions were held with contractors, planners, architects and internal teams to define processes and break down silos. As a result, Maconda produced tailored Circular Economy Gateways - pathways Clarion can embed across their development workflow to promote circularity.
